Initiatives
Our commitment to fostering a strong community is reflected in the many hands-on initiatives that keep Sterling vibrant, welcoming, and connected. Through our quarterly Sterling Boulevard Cleanups and ongoing Sterling Boulevard Maintenance, volunteers work together to remove litter, maintain landscaping, and care for our “Welcome to Sterling” areas—ensuring our main thoroughfare remains safe, attractive, and inviting year-round.
Our annual Stream Cleanup brings neighbors of all ages together to protect local waterways, support the Chesapeake Bay watershed, and preserve the natural beauty that defines our area. We also maintain the Helen Casey Memorial Butterfly Garden, enriching the environment while creating a peaceful space the community can enjoy.
Beyond beautification and preservation, our Scholarship Program invests in Sterling’s future by recognizing local high school students—particularly those dedicated to volunteer service—and supporting their academic goals.
Through these efforts, the Sterling Foundation continues to strengthen community pride, environmental stewardship, and opportunity for generations to come.

Note: We require a WAIVER for all volunteer activities to protect both you (our volunteer) and Sterling Foundation.
